Japanese households' consumer confidence improved in May, a monthly survey from the Cabinet Office showed Monday.
The corresponding index came in at 40.7, up from 40.1 a month ago. All the sub-indicators of the confidence index increased from the previous month.
The overall livelihood indicator rose to 41.2 from 40.2. Likewise, income growth and employment climbed to 40.1 and 39, respectively. Willingness to buy durables moved up to 42.6 from 42 in April.
The overall consumer confidence index also climbed to 40.7 in May, from 40 in the previous month.
