The British pound extended its previous session's upward trading against major rivals in New York afternoon trading on Friday. The sterling climbed to fresh multi-day highs of 1.4904 against the franc, 0.8062 versus the euro and a new multi-week high of 1.5685 against the US dollar at around 2:00 pm ET.
