Two soldiers of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) died in an IED (improvised explosive device) attack in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday.
An ISAF press release issued on Thursday did not mention the nationality of the victims, but deferred "casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities."
With this, the total number of foreign troop casualties in Afghanistan this year rose to 219.
The news of the foreign troops' death comes hours after the United States said no part of Afghanistan should be considered immune from violence, and that the potential exists throughout the country for hostile acts against U.S. and other Western nationals at any time.
In a Travel Warning update on Wednesday, the State Department warned its citizens against travel to Afghanistan, as "the security threat to all U.S. citizens in Afghanistan remains critical."
