New Zealand Service Sector Growth Slows In June

New Zealand's service sector expansion eased in June but maintained a "healthy position," a survey by the Business NZ and the Bank of New Zealand showed Monday.

The headline Performance of Services Index fell 2.3 points from a month earlier to 54.3 in June. A PSI reading above 50 indicates that the service sector is generally expanding, while below 50 indicates that it is declining.

The index has now posted above 50 for the past five months.

BusinessNZ chief executive Phil O'Reilly said the New Zealand service sector remained in a healthy position, although global stagnation continues to cause concern.
