Cimarex Energy Co. (XEC) reported net income of $64.3 million or $0.74 per share for the second quarter versus $166.7 million or $1.94 per share last year.
Oil, gas and natural gas liquids, or NGLs, revenue for the quarter fell to $343.2 million from $452.3 million in the same quarter a year earlier. According to the company, the decrease in second-quarter revenues and cash flow is primarily a result of lower oil, NGL and gas prices.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.91 per share on revenues of $381.59 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
