Euro Area Finance Chiefs To Hold Conference Call On Greece

Eurozone finance ministers will hold a conference call on Wednesday and the discussion will likely focus on the next loan disbursement to Greece worth EUR 31.5 billion.

Reports suggest that the Greek government will be able to push through further austerity measures amounting to EUR 13.5 billion, though some of the coalition partners reportedly objected to proposals regarding labor reforms.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said Greece has cliched a bailout agreement with its international creditors. However, other political parties in the coalition indicated that differences still exist.

The government is struggling to get the austerity proposals approved by Parliament before November 11, ahead of the next Eurogroup meeting which will give final nod for the next loan tranche. The Parliament is expected to vote on the measures some time next week.
