Austria's economy contracted slightly in the third quarter largely reflecting a fall in investment, the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) said Thursday.
Gross domestic product fell 0.1 percent sequentially in the third quarter, offsetting a 0.1 percent rise in the prior quarter.
Household spending remained flat, while government spending rose 0.5 percent. Investment dropped at a pace of 0.9 percent, following a 0.7 percent decrease in the prior quarter. Exports and imports rose 0.9 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively.
On a yearly basis, real GDP remained flat after rising 0.1 percent in the previous quarter.
