Media reports stated Monday morning that NICE Systems Ltd. (NICE) is involved in talks to acquire Verint Systems Inc. (VRNT). The deal would reportedly be valued at $1.5 billion, in cash and stock.
Verint Systems gapped open sharply higher Monday, but moved in a narrow range throughout the session. Shares finished up by 2.33 at $33.83 on the highest volume of the year. The stock has been on an upward trend for the last 2 months and set a new high for the year.
NICE Systems also gapped open sharply higher and remained range-bound throughout the session. The stock closed up by 2.29 at $36.95 on strong volume. NICE Systems leaped to a 6-month high.
