Pound Off Lows Vs Most Majors After PM David Cameron's Speech

In the early European session on Wednesday, the pound erased its early losses against most major currencies after Prime Minister David Cameron's statement that a referendum about the membership in the EU will be held only in the next Parliament.

Prime Minister was delivering the speech about the U.K. membership in the European Union. Cameron noted the referendum will be held in 2017 after treaty changes.

The pound is now trading at 1.4752 against the greenback, off its early multi-month low of 1.4689.

Against the franc, the pound bounced back from early 8-1/2-month low of 1.4689 with pair now worth 1.4751.

The pound also gained to 0.8386 against the euro from an early low of 0.8418.
