Pound Mixed Ahead Of BoE Minutes, UK Claimant Count Data

At 4:30 am ET, the Bank of England is slated to issue the minutes of the rate-setting meeting held on January 9 and 10. The bank had kept the size of quantitative easing at GBP 375 billion and its key interest rate at 0.50 percent.

In the meantime, the Office for National Statistics is slated to issue the U.K. labor market statistics. The claimant count rate is seen at 4.8 percent in December, unchanged from November.

The pound showed mixed trading ahead of the data. While the sterling edged higher against the dollar and the yen, it drifted lower against the euro and the Swiss franc. As of 4:25 am Et, the sterling was trading at 140.0 against the yen, 0.8405 against the euro, 1.4735 against the Swiss franc and 1.5853 against the dollar.
