Newspaper publisher , The McClatchy Co. (MNI), on Thursday reported fourth quarter net loss of $30.0 million or $0.35 per share, compared to net income of $42.0 million or $0.49 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.44 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating income for the latest fourth quarter was $82.75 million, compared to $90.28 million in the prior year period.
Revenues for the quarter were $355.66 million, up 1.2% from $351.44 million a year ago.
