Informa Full-year Profit Rises, Bags 30-yr License To Run Agrishow In Brazil

Publishing firm Informa plc (INF.L) Thursday reported higher profit for the full year in spite of a fall in revenue, owing to a tax credit that benefited the company.

The company further announced that it has been awarded a 30-year license to run Agrishow in Brazil, beginning with this year's event, scheduled to run from April 29 to May 3. It added saying Agrishow is the largest agricultural exhibition in Latin America, attracting close to 800 exhibitors and over 150 thousand visitors, across an area of 440 thousand square meters in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo.

For the period, the firm reported pre-tax profit of 67 million pounds, down from 88.6 million pounds last year.

The firm enjoyed a tax credit of 23.7 million pounds this year versus a charge of 14.3 million pounds last year.

Thus, profit after tax rose to 90.7 million pounds from 74.3 million pounds a year earlier. On a per share basis, the firm posted earnings of 15 pence compared with 12.5 pence a year ago.

Adjusted earnings per share from continuing operations amounted to 40.7 pence versus 37.8 pence a year ago.

Revenue from continuing operations dropped to 1.232 billion pounds from 1.275 billion pounds reported a year ago.

The company has rolled out a second interim dividend of 12.5 pence per share, payable on May 21 to shareholders registered as on April 26.
