Spreadtrum Communications Inc.'s (SPRD) fourth-quarter net income attributable to the company totaled US$24.9 million, down from US$35.2 million in the prior year quarter. Net income per ADS for the quarter was US$0.47, compared to US$0.66 last year.
Excluding share-based compensation expenses, the Company's non-GAAP net income for the quarter was US$31.2 million, down from US$41.5 million in the prior year quarter. Non-GAAP net income per ADS was US$0.59, compared with US$0.78 per ADS in the year ago quarter.
Revenue in the fourth-quarter totaled US$203.1 million, up from US$192.2 million in the year ago quarter.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.50 per share on revenues of $196.33 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Looking ahead, Spreadtrum expects revenue for the first quarter of 2013 to be in the range of US$180 million - US$186 million, with a flat gross margin relative to the fourth quarter 2012. Analysts expect the company to report revenues of $171.56 million for the first-quarter.
