Hyundai Motor America, a part of Korea-based Hyundai Motor Co. (HYMTF.PK, HYMLF.PK), said Friday that its U.S. vehicle sales in February edged up 2 percent from a year ago, on strong sales of Elantra and Santa Fe brands, partly offset by lower sales for its Sonata and Veloster brands.
The company reported U.S. vehicle sales in February of 52,311 units, compared with 51,151
units a year ago.
"February was another record month for Hyundai - we had a terrific President's Day weekend event to kick off the spring selling season, much improved inventory levels, and great access to credit available to a broader band of buyers," said Dave Zuchowski, executive vice president of sales.
"Our performance was led by the all-new Santa Fe Sport and the award winning Elantra, both of which saw double-digit sales gains over 2012."
