Child Actor From 'Schindler's List' Traumatized By The Film

Polish actress Oliwia Dabrowska, best known for her role as the "girl in the red coat" from Steven Spielberg's 1993 drama "Schindler's List," says she was traumatized after first watching the film. Dabrowska filmed her scenes for the Oscar-winner at the age three and first watched the film at the age of 11.

During a recent interview with the UK's Guardian, Dabrowska says Spielberg advised against watching the film until she was an adult:

"It was too horrible. I could not understand much, but I was sure that I didn't want to watch ever again in my life," she says adding, that she "really regretted" not heeding Spielberg's advice.

In the film, her character is seen walking the streets of the Krakow, Poland, ghetto as Jews are murdered brutalized by German soldiers all around her.

"I was ashamed of being in the movie and really angry with my mother and father when they told anyone about my part," she said.

She admits, however, that after revisiting the film at the age of 18 had warmed to the film, saying: "I had been part of something I could be proud of."
