Latvia's annual inflation slowed further and hit a historic low in February, data released by the Central Statistical Bureau showed Friday.
The consumer price index moved up 0.3 percent on an annual basis in February, slower than the 0.6 percent growth seen in January. The latest growth rate was the smallest since September 2010 when the index returned to growth following a series of declines.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 1.8 percent year-on-year during the month, while prices of clothing and footwear decreased by 1 percent. There was a 0.9 percent annual increase in costs of housing and utility, and a 0.8 percent decrease in transportation expenses.
The consumer price index edged down 0.1 percent compared to January, when it dropped by 0.2 percent, data showed.
