Norway Trade Surplus Falls In February

Norway's trade surplus declined in February from the same month last year, the latest figures from Statistics Norway showed Friday.

The surplus amounted to NOK 33.7 billion in February, which is NOK 11.5 billion less than in the same period last year. The surplus was 2.3 percent higher than in January.

Exports plunged 15.1 percent year-on-year to NOK 72.6 billion in February. Month-on-month, shipments fell 4.2 percent.

Imports declined 3.5 percent year-on-year to NOK 39 billion. Imports fell 9.2 percent from the previous month.

The mainland trade balance showed a deficit of NOK 10.2 billion. Mainland exports amounted to NOK 28.8 billion in February compared to NOK 29.9 billion in the same month last year.
