Japanese labor cash earnings declined more than expected in February, provisional estimates from the labor ministry showed Tuesday.
Total cash earnings fell 0.7 percent year-on-year in February compared with an expected 0.2 percent fall. This followed a 0.1 percent increase.
Contractual cash earnings declined 0.8 percent annually during the month. Regular pay was 0.6 percent less than a year earlier.
Overtime pay declined 3.5 percent year-on-year in February, while special cash earnings rose 8.2 percent.
