Industrial production in Malaysia decreased more than expected in February, the latest figures from the Department of Statistics showed Thursday.
Production fell 4.5 percent year-on-year in February, much steeper than the 2.5 percent decline expected by economists.
Manufacturing output fell 5.2 percent annually during the month and the mining output dropped 3 percent. Electricity output also declined 3 percent year-on-year, the statistical office said.
On a monthly basis, total industrial production slipped 1.2 percent in February. Manufacturing output fell 0.7 percent and mining declined 1.1 percent. Electricity production dipped 4.3 percent month-on-month.
