Two ISAF Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

Two soldiers of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed in an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday.

An ISAF press release did not disclose the victims' nationality, and deferred casualty identification procedures to "the relevant national authorities."

With the latest deaths, the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan this year has risen to 35.

A downward trend has been noticed in ISAF troop casualties in Afghanistan since 2011.

As per figures provided by Icasualties.org., an independent website that monitors international troop casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan, 405 coalition military personnel were killed in Afghanistan last year. Military casualties were higher in the previous years: 566 deaths in 2011, and 711 in 2010.

And if the current rate of fatalities is taken as an indicator, military casualties are expected to decline in 2013 too.
