Hungary's March Producer Price Inflation Rises

Hungary's producer price inflation increased to 2.2 percent in March from 0.8 percent in February, the Central Statistical Office reported Tuesday. The rate of increase also exceeded the 2.1 percent expected rise.

Compared to March 2012, domestic sale prices gained 0.7 percent and prices increased by 1.7 percent in manufacturing branches as a whole.

On a monthly basis, industrial producer prices rose 1.6 percent, which was faster than February's 0.4 percent increase. The producer price index was basically lifted by price changes registered in manufacturing branches.

The export sales prices of industry, measures in forint terms, were up 2.6 percent from a month ago. At the same time, it advanced 3.2 percent annually.
