Norway's Trade Surplus Falls In April

Norway's trade surplus declined sharply in April, the latest figures published by Statistics Norway revealed Wednesday.

The trade surplus last month amounted to NOK 26.6 billion. This was 29.8 percent less than a month earlier and 25.8 percent lower than in April 2012.

The Mainland trade balance was in a deficit of NOK 15.5 billion, which was 94.7 percent lower than in March, but 21.3 percent higher than the same month last year.

Norway's exports fell 5.9 percent month-on-month to NOK 71.9 billion. This was 11.8 percent lower than last year.

Imports, on the other hand, increased 17.8 percent month-on-month in April. Year-on-year, imports grew 3.6 percent.
