Former Vice-Foreign Minister Ahn Ho-young will be South Korea's new Ambassador to the United States, the Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.
President Park Geun-hye named 57-year-old Ahn as Seoul's envoy to Washington, South Korean media reported.
A Georgetown University-educated trade expert, Ahn had served as First Vice-Foreign Minister and Deputy Trade Minister under the government of Park's predecessor Lee Myung-bak.
Park also appointed former lawmaker Kwon Young-se, 54, as new Ambassador to China and her aide Lee Byung-kee as envoy to Japan.
