Susan Rice, the current U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations will soon be serving as President Barack Obama's new national security adviser.
According to a senior administration official, Rice will replace Tom Donilon, CNN Politics reports. Donilon has served as National Security Advisor in the Obama Administration since October 2010.
Rice has extensive diplomatic experience, but is best know for taking fire from the GOP over her changing explanations for September's attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
Until the Benghazi incident, she was considered a possible replacement in 2013 for Hilary Clinton, who was retiring from Secretary of State. Rice withdrew her name amid accusations from conservatives that she offered incorrect analysis of the attack that killed four Americans, including the ambassador to Libya.
She previously served on the staff of Bill Clinton's Administration as the National Security Council and as Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, during his second term.
Rice is currently married to ABC News producer Ian Officer Cameron and together they have two children.
