Brazil's consumer price inflation stayed almost unchanged in May, and was broadly in line with economists' expectations, latest data showed Friday.
Inflation as per the consumer price index came in at 6.5 percent in May, little changed from April's figure of 6.49 percent. Economists were looking for an inflation rate of 6.51 percent.
Month-on-month, the consumer price index moved up 0.37 percent in May, after rising 0.55 percent in the previous month. The index was forecast to rise 0.38 percent month-on-month.
Food prices rose 0.31 percent sequentially, and housing costs advanced 0.75 percent. There was a 0.84 percent gain in clothing and footwear prices, and a 0.25 percent fall in transportation costs, data showed.
