Lee's Discount Liquor in Las Vegas was ordered to remove a billboard advertising its store with the message, "Alcohol: it's cheaper than therapy."
The ad, according to the Las Vegas Sun, became the target of a Change.org petition after rubbing some residents the wrong way.
"With all the alcohol problems Las Vegas residents and others have, the billboard encouraging alcohol consumption versus seeking therapy is a socially irresponsible message to model to everyone," wrote the petition's authors on the website.
Kenny Lee, the son of the proprietor of Lee's Liquors, said that the business was in the process of removing the signs, adding that he was trying to use a little humor:
"I thought they were funny and goes well with our television commercials, but didn't realize the people it would affect."
He added that his dad, Hae Un Lee, the founder and owner of Lee's, was not laughing:
"Trust me, I heard an earful from my dad," he told the Sun.
