House prices in England and Wales rose 0.1 percent month-on-month in May, slower than the 0.4 percent increase in April, monthly data from Land Registry revealed Friday.
The annual increase came in at 0.5 percent, bringing the average house price to GBP 161,969.
In London, the monthly increase in house price was 0.7 percent. At 5 percent, the annual growth for London was considerably higher than other regions.
Data from the Nationwide Building Society released earlier in the day showed that house prices grew 1.9 percent in June, the fastest pace in nearly three years.
