Slovakia Inflation Slows In June

Slovakia's inflation eased in June after holding steady in the previous month, data released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed on Monday.

The consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.6 percent year-on-year, following increases of 1.7 percent each in April and May. The latest inflation figure is the lowest since December 2010, when it was 1.3 percent.

Food prices climbed 4.4 percent, while transport costs declined 1 percent.

Month-on-month, Slovak consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent in June, equaling the gain in May.

Core inflation also dropped to 1.7 percent from May's 1.8 percent. On a monthly basis, the core CPI rose 0.2 percent, after a 0.1 percent gain in the previous month.
