Polish Core Inflation Eases As Expected In June

Poland' core inflation weakened modestly in June, and matched economists' expectations, latest data showed Tuesday.

Inflation as per the consumer price index, which excludes food and energy, slowed to 0.9 percent in June from 1 percent in May, the Polish National Bank said. The June figure matched economists' expectations.

On a monthly basis, core consumer prices stayed unchanged in June, after dropping by 0.1 percent in the previous month. The index was forecast to record 0.1 percent growth month-on-month.

Poland's headline inflation had decelerated sharply to 0.2 percent in June from 0.5 percent in May. Sequentially, the consumer price index held steady during the month, after decreasing 0.1 percent a month earlier.
