Microsoft Office Mobile App On Android Launched

Microsoft has finally reached out to diehard users of its office suite with the launch of its app on Android. The tech giant Wednesday released its Office Mobile app for smartphones to run on Android 4.0 ICS and above.

The app offers a basic office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and is available for free. However, the app will only work for users who have subscribed to Microsoft's Office 365 Home Premium and ProPlus service.

Office Mobile for iOS was introduced last month with similar features and availability. The app has now debuted on the Google Play store in the U.S. and will be available in more countries in the next few weeks.

The Office 365 package can be installed on about five devices such as PCs, Macs, and smartphones. Nevertheless, at $100 a year, the Office 365 package is heavily priced, and still does not provide support to tablets and iPads.

With dozens of top-rated apps like Kingsoft Office, OfficeSuite, which are available on the Google play store for free, it is difficult to assume MS office users will readily welcome this new app from the tech giant.
