No injuries were reported after an Amtrak train derailed off the tracks near Spartanburg, South Carolina early Monday, stranding 207 passengers and 11 crew members, officials said.
Nine cars of Amtrak's crescent line left the tracks but did not tip over when they landed in the gravel, WSPA-TV, Spartanburg reported.
The train originally left New Orleans on its way to New York.
Charter buses were sent from Charlotte, N.C., to take the passengers, who were stranded for several hours on the train, to Washington, for transfer to another train, WSPA said.
