Consumer prices in China were up 3.0 percent on year in November, the government said on Monday.
That was below expectations for an increase of 3.2 percent, which would have been unchanged from the October reading.
Prices broadly showed mild contraction, except for a 5.9 percent annual jump in food prices.
The government also said that producer prices were down 1.4 percent on year versus forecasts for -1.5 percent - which would have been unchanged from the previous month.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices were down 0.1 percent and producer prices were flat.
