President Barack Obama has seen a modest uptick in his approval rating in recent months, according to the results of a Quinnipiac University National Poll released on Wednesday, although half of Americans voters still give him a negative rating.
The poll found that 42 percent of voters approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president, while 50 percent disapprove.
The latest numbers reflect a slight improvement from January, when the president had a negative 40 percent to 54 percent approval rating.
Despite the improvement in his overall approval rating, the poll found that approval of Obama's handling of foreign policy has taken a hit.
Quinnipiac said Obama now gets a negative 39 percent to 55 percent rating for his handling of foreign policy, one of his lowest foreign policy grades ever.
When asked specifically about the Ukraine and Russia situation, voters gave Obama a negative 41 percent to 47 percent rating.
The Quinnipiac survey of 1,578 registered voters was conducted March 26th through 31st and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
