Greece's harmonized index of consumer prices declined at a slower pace for the second straight month in July, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Wednesday.
The HICP dropped 0.8 percent year-on-year in July, slower than June's 1.5 percent decline. Economists had forecast a 1.3 percent decrease for July.
Prices have falling since March last year. The latest decline was the slowest since July last year, when prices dropped 0.5 percent.
On a monthly basis, the HICP fell 1.0 percent in July, in contrast to a 0.5 percent increase registered in the previous month.
The overall consumer prices (CPI) declined 0.7 percent year-on-year in July, slower than June's 1.1 percent fall. Economists had forecast a 0.9 percent drop for the month. It was the seventeenth consecutive month of decline.
