Greece's unemployment rate eased for a fourth straight month in August to its lowest level in two years, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Thursday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate dropped to 25.9 percent from 26.1 percent in July. Economists had expected the rate to fall to 26.1 percent from July's initial figure of 26.4 percent.
The latest jobless rate was the lowest since August 2012, when it was 25.5 percent. In August 2013, the rate was 27.8 percent.
The number of unemployed slid to 1.24 million from 1.26 million in the previous month. The number of employed eased to 3.55 million from 3.57 million.
The youth jobless rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, fell to 49.3 percent from 58.6 percent a year ago.
