Japan All Industry Activity Rises For Third Month

Japan all industry activity increased for the third straight month in November, figures from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed Wednesday.

The all industry activity index went up 0.1 percent month-on-month in November, the same rate of growth as in the previous month, which was revised from a 0.1 percent fall.

Economists had forecast the index to remain unchanged in November. In September, the index gained a revised 1.3 percent.

The tertiary industry activity index grew 0.2 percent in November from the previous month. At the same time, the industrial production index dropped 0.5 percent in November, in contrast to a 0.4 percent rise seen in October.

Construction activity fell 0.1 percent in November. It was the first decline in four months.

On an annual basis, all industry activity declined 1.9 percent in November, faster than previous month's 0.9 percent drop. The index has been falling since April.
