Italy Retail Sales Rise For First Time In Seven Months

Italy's retail sales increased for the first time in seven months in November, the statistical office Istat showed Thursday.

Retail sales grew 0.1 percent from October, when it remained flat. The growth rate came in line with economists' expectations. This was the first monthly rise since April.

Sales of food products gained 0.2 percent, while non-food sales remained flat in November.

On a yearly basis, retail sales declined 2.3 percent in November after decreasing by revised 1 percent in October. Sales were expected to fall by 0.9 percent.
