Malaysia's Producer Prices Fall In December

Malaysia's producer prices declined in December from a year ago, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Friday.

The domestic producer prices index plunged 4.4 percent in December from the previous year and fell 1.9 percent from the previous month.

Similarly, producer prices for local production declined 6.0 percent annually in December.

Prices in the mining sector tumbled 28.0 percent and manufacturing prices fell by 2.2 percent. At the same time, the utility sector prices registered an increase of 6.6 percent.

Month-on-month, the PPI for local production was down 2.4 percent in December.

Import prices slid 0.6 percent annually in December and decreased 0.7 percent from the previous month.
