The Spanish economy grew at the fastest pace since the fourth quarter of 2007, the statistical office INE said Friday.
Gross domestic product advanced 0.7 percent sequentially, while the growth rate was expected to stabilize at 0.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014. This was the fastest growth since the fourth quarter of 2007.
GDP gained 0.5 percent each in the third quarter and the second quarter.
The Bank of Spain earlier estimated a 0.6 percent quarterly growth for the fourth quarter.
On a yearly basis, GDP was up 2 percent, faster than third quarter's 1.6 percent increase. In 2014, GDP climbed 1.4 percent compared to a contraction of 1.2 percent in 2013.
