Australia Official Reserves Fall In January

Australia's official reserves decreased in January from the previous month, figures from the Reserve Bank of Australia showed Friday.

Total official reserve assets fell to A$ 62.5 billion in January from A$65.7 billion in December.

Foreign exchange reserves fell to A$50.7 billion from A$54.5 billion in December. Meanwhile, gold reserves increased to A$ 4.1 billion in January from A$3.7 billion in the prior month.

At the same time, SDRs increased slightly to A$5.3 billion in January from A$5.2 billion in the previous month. Reserve position in the IMF rose to A$2.3 billion in January from $2.27 billion in the previous month.

In US dollar terms, official reserve assets decreased to $48.66 billion in January from $53.89 billion in the prior month.
