New Zealand Credit Card Spending Rises 0.1%

Overall credit card spending in New Zealand was up a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent on month in January, Statistics New Zealand said on Wednesday - following the 0.3 percent decline in December.

Retail credit card spending dipped 0.4 percent on month in January - missing expectations for a gain of 0.2 percent following the 0.1 percent contraction in the previous month.

The value of core retail sales on electronic cards, which strips out spending on fuel and vehicle related items, added 0.9 percent to NZ$3.88 billion, following December's 0.2 percent gain.
