Twitter introduced Periscope, the latest smartphone app for live broadcast of private or public events from around the globe. The most interesting feature is that it doesn't need a wi-fi connection. It has become an instant hit in just two weeks.
Using Periscope, you can get the live or recorded broadcast from anyone in your friends list, chat with your followers live, and also express your love for a stream through a heart sign. Further, you can make suggestions to the broadcaster to move on or to zoom to get a close up look through chats. The video stream can be stored for 24 hours.
You can share the video publicly or to a closed group. Version 1.0.2 is available free on iTunes, which is compatible with iOS 7.1 or later with iPhone, iPad, iPod touch.
The app was developed by Kayvon Beykpour and Joe Bernstein and launched on March 26. It was bought by Twitter Inc. for $100 million in January, just after the beta testing.
