House price inflation in the U.K. eased for a fifth consecutive month in February, data from the Office for National Statistics showed Tuesday.
Average house prices rose 7.2 percent annually following 8.4 percent in January. It was the slowest rate of growth since September's 12.1 percent.
This followed the house price increases the UK has experienced since April 2012 and was driven in large part by increases in London, the agency said.
Annual house price growth is showing signs of slowing across the majority of the UK, the ONS added. The average UK mix-adjusted house price was GBP 268,000 in February.
Prices rose 7.4 percent in England, 1.1 percent in Wales, 6.4 percent in Scotland and 14.2 percent in Northern Ireland.
House prices in London rose 9.4 percent. Excluding London and the South East, UK house prices increased by 5.9 percent in the 12 months to February.
Month-on-month, average house prices increased 0.6 percent in January, recovering from a revised 0.1 percent fall in the previous month.
