McDonald's Japan Closing 131 Stores

McDonald's Corp.'s Japanese business, embarrassed by a series of food contamination scandals, is planning to close 131 under-performing stores and refurbish more than 2000 stores over four years. It also expects losses to widen this year.

For the Fiscal 2015, the company is projecting a loss of 38 billion yen.

Earlier in August 2014, a human tooth was found in French fries ordered at Osaka location of McDonald's Japan store and a piece of vinyl in chicken nuggets served at an outlet in Misawa, Northern Japan. There were reports that hard-plastic serving chocolate sundae has hurt a child at Fukushima.
