German Unemployment Falls In May

German unemployment declined less than expected in May, the Federal Labor Agency reportedly said Tuesday.

The number of people out of work declined by seasonally adjusted 6,000 in May. It was forecast to fall by 10,000. The jobless rate came in at a record low 6.4 percent, the same rate as seen in April.

Data from Destatis today showed that the jobless rate held steady at 4.7 percent in April. The number of unemployed decreased to 1.98 million in April from 1.99 million in the preceding month.
