New Zealand Consumer Confidence Slips In Q2 - Westpac

Consumer confidence in New Zealand declined in the second quarter of 2015, the latest survey from Westpac Bank showed on Monday, with an index score of 113.0.

That's down from 117.4 in the first quarter, and it also marks the lowest index reading since the first quarter of 2013.

"The drop isn't surprising given the steady drumbeat of bad news around the dairy sector," Westpac said in the release. "Attitudes to spending remain positive, consumers not battening down the hatches just yet."

The bank added that confidence may slip even more in the months ahead as a weaker New Zealand dollar will have a toll on imports.
