Italy's retail sales dropped for the second straight month in June, figures from the statistical office Istat showed Monday.
Retail sales fell a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent month-over-month in June, following a 0.2 percent decrease in the previous month. In April, sales had risen 0.7 percent.
Food sales grew 0.9 percent in June and that for non-food products went up by 0.2 percent.
On an annual basis, retail sales climbed 1.7 percent in June, much faster than May's 0.1 percent mere increase. It was the second successive monthly gain.
In the second quarter, total retail sales advanced 0.4 percent compared with the previous three-month period.
