Japan Monetary Base Surges 33.3% In August

The monetary base in Japan soared 33.3 percent on year in August, the Bank of Japan said on Wednesday, coming in at 322.926 trillion yen.

That follows the 32.8 percent spike in July.

Banknotes in circulation added 5.3 percent on year, while coins in circulation added 0.6 percent. Current account balances surged 50.3 percent, including a 49.6 percent spike in reserve balances.

The adjusted monetary base jumped an annual 41.0 percent.
