Greece Import Prices Fall At Fastest Pace In 7 Months

Greece import prices declined at the fastest pace in seven months in August, the Hellenic Statistical Authority reported Wednesday.

Import prices logged an annual fall of 12.8 percent in August, after decreasing 11.5 percent in July. This was the fastest fall since January when it dropped 13.2 percent.

The import price index of the Eurozone market decreased 0.8 percent and that of non-euro area market plunged 22 percent.

Month-on-month, import prices decreased at a slower pace of 2.2 percent following July's 2.4 percent drop.

Energy prices slid 8.6 percent and intermediate goods prices decreased 0.6 percent. Meanwhile, capital goods prices remained flat and durable consumer goods prices gained 0.3 percent.
