Eurozone Private Sector Expands Most Since May 2011

The euro area private sector expanded at the fastest pace in four-and-a-half years in November, flash survey data from Markit showed Monday.

The composite output index rose to a 54-month high of 54.4 in November from 53.9 in October. It was also above the expected score of 54.

The services Purchasing Managers' Index came in at 54.6, up from 54.1 in the previous month. This was the fastest growth in 54 months. The reading was forecast to fall to 54.

The manufacturing PMI climbed to 52.8 from 52.3 in the previous month. The reading reached a 19-month high. Economists had expected the score to fall marginally to 52.2.

The survey's employment, new orders and backlogs of work indicators all signaled the strongest monthly expansions in four-and-a-half years.
